Adult Lessons
Private Lessons for Beginners and New Members (Also available for children who can not attend our other programs)
Dates: May through October. Times and classes arranged between the student and the instructor.

Details: One-on-one basic instruction in the art of sculling. You are required to take enough one hour lessons to display competence on the water. Most people require between four and six lessons.
Enrollment: This program has open enrollment. Call or email the club for more information.
Lesson Fees: In addition to membership and a $75 new member fee, which is for anyone with no rowing experience, you pay between $40 - $60 for each one hour lesson directly to the instructor.

Youth Learn-to-Row
Fall 2009
This program is open to students who have no previous rowing experience, and who are interested in learning and improving their rowing technique in preparation for a Spring or Summer competitive rowing program.
Dates:
Sept. 26 & 27 (Sept. 26 is the Hutchinson Cup Regatta, but all activities will be on land).
Oct. 3 & 4, 17 & 18, 31 Nov. 1, 7 (Nov. 8 will be a makeup day for any students who must miss one of the other dates).
Times:
Saturdays and Sundays from 10AM - Noon
Prerequisite:
Must be at least 13 years of age, and be able to swim. No rowing experience is necessary.
Enrollment: The enrollment period closes the first day of the session.
Program Fees:
$325. This fee includes a temporary membership to BBC which is good for the duration of this program (no new member fee or key deposit charged for youth programs). All fees are payable to: Bachelors Barge Club.

Youth Racing
Fall 2009 The goals of the 2009 Bachelors Barge Club Fall Sculling Program will be to increase sculling proficiency and improve the fitness level among the program’s athletes in preparation for the spring scholastic racing season. It will be a competitive sculling program with the athletes being selected for boats based on a clear set of criteria including physiological and psychological measures, race experience, technique and ability to work with others in their boat, and attendance.
Dates and Times:
Tuesday through Friday:
5:30 pm to 7:30pm
Saturday: 10:00am to 12:00 pm
Sunday, Monday: No organized practice – cardio / lifting will be assigned
Races:
Navy Day Regatta: Oct 10th
Head of the Schuylkill Regatta: Oct 24, 25
Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta: Nov 14th
Bill Braton Memorial Regatta: Nov 15th
Qualificiations: Qualified rowers will meet the following minimum criteria:
* All rowers must have completed at least one season of competitive racing - spring, summer, or fall.
* All rowers must be at least 14 years of age
* All rowers must know how to swim
* All rowers are required to pay a temporary membership fee to Bachelors Barge Club
* All athletes must submit a statement of their goals, as well as their height, weight, best 2k erg score, and best 6k erg score for participating in this program via email to Paul Coomes at paul.coomes@sca.com
* All athletes must submit a reference from their current coach (via email to Paul Coomes at paul.coomes@sca.com to be considered). If Paul is your current coach, this requirement is waived.
* All athletes must be available for all Fall regattas.
* Applications must be submitted by September 8th to be considered for this program.
* Applicants will be considered based on qualifications, goals, and space available.

Temporary Membership Fee:$ 150.00
(good for the duration of the program)
Program Fee:$ 425.00
(includes race entry fees)
Unisuit: $ 65.00 (approximate, required only if a BBC uni is not owned)
Total: $ $575.00 (without uni)
Please do not send money when applying. Those rowers that are selected can bring their payment made out to Bachelors Barge Club in the amount of $575.00 on the first day of practice.
